Indian Ooty Garlic Crop Report 2025 and Market Outlook

The 2025 Indian Ooty garlic crop harvesting has already commenced, albeit slowly, in the Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Rajasthan regions. It is anticipated that shipments of the new crop will begin around the middle of February 2025.

The size of the Indian Ooty garlic bulbs this year is expected to be in the range of 4-5 cm, which is ideal for peeling, making this year’s harvest especially valuable for processing purposes. Additionally, the volume of the crop is projected to be nearly double that of last year, indicating a significant increase in overall production.

This increased yield will likely lead to a more stable supply for both domestic and international markets. However, market conditions should be closely monitored, as the surge in production could result in price fluctuations depending on the demand across different regions.

Market Outlook:

Given the larger crop size and higher production, market prices could experience some pressure. However, the demand for garlic, particularly for peeling, is expected to remain strong, providing support for stable pricing. Export opportunities, especially for peeled garlic, should see growth in the coming months. Additionally, domestic consumption is likely to increase as well, contributing to balanced market conditions.

Overall, while the larger crop may lead to some initial price volatility, the strong demand for this high-quality, peeled garlic should help stabilize the market in the mid-to-long term.
